Port release in the Fritzbox - how it works
For many games or music and video streams, port releases must be created in the Fritzbox. We'll show you how it's done.
Fritzbox: Set up port sharing
- Open the fritz.box user interface and log in with your password.
- Click on "Internet" in the menu on the left and select "Shares".
- Under the "Port Releases" tab you will find the "Add device for sharing" button.
- First select the desired device from your network that is to receive the port release.
- If necessary, you can activate the option "Allow independent port releases for this device". This means that further port releases in the router are no longer necessary.
- Click on the "New Release" button below and select an available application and a protocol.
- The TCP protocol is most commonly used. If an entire port range is to be released immediately, enter the range in the input fields "from" and "to". If you only want to release one port, enter the same number in both fields.
- If you confirm both processes with the "OK" button, the port is released.
In the next practical tip we will show you how to set up DynDNS in the Fritzbox.
