Postbank: Pay contactless - all options at a glance
Postbank promises convenient shopping with the option of paying without contact. This practical tip shows you what you need and what options are available.
Pay contactlessly at Postbank - an app makes it possible
In order to be able to pay contactlessly, a few requirements must be met.
- As a Postbank customer, you need to download the in-house Android app Postbank Financial Assistant to your smartphone. It doesn't work with every cell phone. Android version 4.4 or higher is required. Of course, the app is also available for the iPhone.
- In addition, your smartphone must be NFC-enabled to make contactless payments. We explain in detail what exactly NFC is in another practical tip.
- A Postbank VISA Card and a Post-ID are also required.
Shopping by credit card, debit card and Girocard
If you have an account with Postbank and the app loaded on your mobile phone, you can pay in the future without making a purchase.
- First you have to configure the app. To do this, you define a PIN and decide in which mode you want to make payments.
- If you then hold the cell phone a few centimeters above the NFC terminal while shopping at the checkout, the amount to be paid will be automatically debited from your Visa credit card.
- Payments up to 25 euros are made without further authorization by the Postbank app. As a rule, you will not automatically receive a receipt. However, you can have one printed out on request.
- If the amount is higher, you must first confirm the payment. You can do this by entering a pin or using your smartphone's fingerprint sensor. In addition, you will always receive a receipt for payments from 25 euros.
- Your contactless payments with the VisaCard are shown individually on your card statement.
We will show you how to have your Postbank account blocked in our next practical tip.
