With PowerPoint you can easily create a poster and save yourself expensive layout software. We show you the most important steps in this article.
1. Set the poster size
To ensure that no images or text shift due to incorrect scaling when printing, set the correct sheet size at the beginning:
- Open the "Design" tab and click on the "Page Setup" menu
- Enter the dimensions of your poster under "Width" and "Height": A4 has the dimensions 210mm x 297mm, A3 297mm x 420mm, A2 420mm x 594mm. The size table for DIN A formats can be found here.
- Note that for borderless printing at a professional printing house, you have to add a bleed of millimeters to each side.
2. Design and save the poster in PowerPoint
After the format has been determined, you can create the poster as usual using text fields, graphics or graphs.
- If you would like to have the poster printed, it is best to save it as a PDF file: Click on "File"> "Save as" and select "PDF" (detailed instructions).
- If you print out the poster yourself, you must select the "Poster printing" or "Share all pages" function. Thus, the poster is divided into several A4 pages that you can then stick together.
