Powerpoint: Show pictures one after the other - how it works
To make your PowerPoint presentation even more interesting, you can show pictures one after the other. You can find out how to do this in the following article.
Apply effects to images in PowerPoint
To show images one after the other, you have to set effects for these objects. The following instructions work from PowerPoint 2010.
- First insert the desired images on the slide.
- Click on the picture to be shown first.
- Navigate to the Animations tab.
- In the "Animation" group, choose your desired effect from the various animation effects.
- Some of the effects, such as wave, are only available for text animations and not for images.
- If you have assigned an effect to your picture, you will see a number near the object. This number indicates the order of the animations and helps you to keep the overview. The number will not be shown later in the slide show.
Show pictures in PowerPoint one after the other with actions
Now define the start behavior and the duration of the animation for each image. Various actions are available in the "Display duration" group.
- If you want the animation to start when you click the mouse, select "Start on click".
- If you have already set previous effects and select "With previous", the animation effect starts at the same time as the effect before. This means that several animations are carried out at the same time.
- If you select "After Previous", the effect starts immediately after the previous effect has expired.
- To set the duration, enter the desired duration in seconds in the "Duration" field in the "Display duration" group. If you do not enter anything here, the image will be displayed permanently after the fade-in.
- With "Delay" you can delay the start of the animation after the desired start if necessary. Enter the duration in seconds.
- To test your effects, click on "Preview" in the "Preview" group in the "Animations" tab.
Organize animation effects in PowerPoint
If you have a lot of effects in your presentation, the animation area helps you not to lose the overview.
- Expand the animation area by clicking the Animations tab> Advanced Animation> Animation Area.
- All animations of the slide are now clearly listed in order.
- Here you can make further settings for the animation effects. Change the duration or right-click. You get a context menu with further options.
- You can change the order of the effects using drag & drop.
