Powerpoint: the 5 most annoying functions
Microsoft PowerPoint is very useful if you want to create presentations. However, the tool is sometimes annoying. We therefore introduce you to the five most annoying functions and show you suitable solutions.
1. Nerve killer: Too few PowerPoint templates available
If you often use PowerPoint, you may want to use as many and different templates as possible. But at the latest after several presentations, the existing templates are all already used and new ones have to be found:
- At Powerpoint you can also create templates yourself according to your individual wishes. This has the advantage that you can adapt all areas and shine with a presentation that not everyone has. We will therefore show you how to create your own template at Powerpoint.
- You get even more creative freedom with photos that you simply use as a background in the presentation. In this way you get a brand new slide picture that draws the attention of the audience to your presentation. We show you how to set an image for this as a background.
2. Nerve slayer: Text wrap is always activated
With PowerPoint, text wrapping is activated by default. So when you write a sentence, part of the sentence automatically jumps to the next line when the text box ends. We'll show you how to work around this "feature".
- If you want to prevent PowerPoint from automatically wrapping text, you should adjust the settings accordingly. You can do this directly in the text field in which you want to exclude a text break. You can read how this works in the next practical tip.
3. Nerve killer: Missing fonts in presentation
If you prepare a presentation with Powerpoint at home, for example to present it at school, university or at work, the fonts you use often disappear. This is because Powerpoint cannot find the appropriate fonts on the other PC.
- To prevent this from happening, you have to embed the fonts directly in your PowerPoint presentation.
- So your fonts are no longer lost during the presentation. Alternatively, you can of course install your own fonts.
4. Nerve killer: The overview is quickly lost
If you want to properly match your presentation to the audience and the topic, you can quickly lose yourself in Powerpoint. When it comes to effects or transitions, PowerPoint has almost no limits. The problem, however, is that you have to repeat many of the steps for each slide. We show you how to do it faster:
- For example, it makes sense to automatically set the transitions in PowerPoint. In this way you put an end to the gimmick and get to your desired presentation faster.
- Exact guidelines in PowerPoint also make your work easier. In this way you can arrange graphics and texts precisely.
- It is also practical to know how you can quickly and easily integrate music into the PowerPoint presentation or store a presentation with music.
- Since many graphics always hide the text, you should make these pictures transparent.
5. Nerve killer: Presentation breaks solved unhappily
If you want to take a break during your presentation, you shouldn't just leave the last slide in place or even switch to the new slide. You shouldn't leave presentation mode at all. So your viewers quickly lose interest.
- It is therefore better to interrupt the presentation in style. This practical tip shows you how you can do this with a few shortcuts. In this way, you can fully draw the attention of your audience back to yourself.
Tip: If you are in a hurry, you can control Powerpoint on the go from your iPhone.
