PowerPoint: Create a mind map with a template
With PowerPoint you can create presentations for all kinds of occasions. Mind maps are also no problem with the extensive office tool and the appropriate template. In this practical tip, we will show you exactly how to do this.
Create a mind map in PowerPoint with a template - how it works
Thanks to a template, you can easily create mind maps in PowerPoint:
- To do this, start a new presentation in PowerPoint. Tip: It is helpful to write down the keywords of your mind map in advance.
- Then switch to the "Insert" tab. Click here on "Shapes" and select a box for the first step.
- Then draw this with the left mouse button pressed. Then double-click in the field just created to add a text. Since this is your first box, write the main topic here.
- Then draw the required arrows. These depend on your points, which you have previously noted. Find a suitable arrow from the "Shapes" menu and draw the required number as described above.
- Once you have done that, select the oval shape in the "Shapes" menu and draw a field for the sub-items of your mind map. Mark this field and copy it with the key combination [Ctrl] + [C]. You can then insert the shape as often as required with [Ctrl] + [V].
- If you still need sub-items, you can draw more lines and shapes and then fill them with text.
- You can adjust the color of the respective shape via the "Format" section.
- You can save your work as a PowerPoint template so that you don't have to repeat this step every time.
If you are not satisfied with the predefined fields, you can also insert buttons in PowerPoint. This practical tip is based on PowerPoint 2010 under Windows 7.
