PowerPoint: Highlight text - how it works
If you want to highlight a text in Microsoft PowerPoint, you have to take a small detour because this function does not exist. We'll show you how it's done.
Colored text passages in PowerPoint
- Open the slide with the text you want to highlight.
- Now go to the "Insert" button in the navigation bar before selecting the rectangle in "Shapes".
- Now place the rectangle over the desired text. This should initially be completely covered and therefore illegible.
- Then double-click on the shape and select "Fill effect" and then "More fill colors ..." (see screenshot).
- A small info box opens in which you enter the color you want to highlight on the scale and select 50 percent in the "Transparency" field (see screenshot).
- After clicking on "OK" you have to select the same color under "Shape Contour" as the filling and your text will appear highlighted.
This practical tip relates to MS PowerPoint 2010. If you would like to include YouTube videos in your presentation, we will show you how to do it here.
