PQI on TV: what does that mean?
The abbreviation PQI is often used in connection with Samsung TVs. In this article we explain what the term means.
PQI: Explanation and meaning for your television
- The term "PQI" was introduced by Samsung. The abbreviation stands for "Picture Quality Index" and is intended to replace the CMR value (Clear Motion Rate).
- The PQI has been used on numerous Samsung TVs since the J series. It is made up of, among other things, the resolution, the shape of the screen and the refresh rate.
- The higher the PQI is specified for a model, the better, according to Samsung, the image quality of the device. A device with a PQI of 1, 400 should therefore show a better picture than a TV with a PQI of 1, 100.
- However, the value is controversial among experts, since no one can check exactly how the PQI is calculated for a special device.
