Create presentations with Google
You can also create your own presentations with Google and then play them directly from the web. The whole thing is no more difficult than with PowerPoint - on the contrary: Since not all functions are included in the web tool, beginners in particular get along better. We give you a first guide.
Create a Google presentation
To create a presentation, you need a Google account. If you don't have one yet, you must first create a Google account. Then go to the Google presentations and log in.
- To create a new presentation, click on the red plus at the bottom right of the screen.
- You will now be asked for the desired design of the presentation. Select a design here and confirm with "Done". You can change the selection later using the "Design" entry in the menu bar.
- A new presentation with the title slide is now created. Click "Click and Add Title" to enter the name of your presentation in the text box.
- You can create a new slide with [CTRL] + [M] or by clicking on the plus symbol in the menu bar. If you right-click on existing slides, you can remove them.
- You start the presentation by clicking on the "Present" button in the top right. There is no direct save button, the presentation is automatically saved when changes are made.
Insert images into the presentation
Presentations only come to life with pictures. You can insert photos into your presentation like this:
- Call up the slide on which you want to insert an image.
- Click on the picture icon in the menu bar.
- There are now various options available for integrating an image. Upload the image from your PC, insert it via URL or access your Google Drive account.
- The picture then appears directly in the presentation. You can now move or scale the image as desired.
Convert presentation to PowerPoint
If the presentation is later to be held on a PC with PowerPoint, you must now convert it to the PowerPoint format PPTX. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Select the "File" item in the menu bar.
- Go to "Download as" and then select "Microsoft PowerPoint file (.pptx)".
- Then the download of your presentation starts.
Tip: You can also create presentations for free with OpenOffice.
