For certain settings on the network, you have to determine the primary DNS server. We show you step by step how to do this in this guide.
How to determine the primary DNS server
Note: Advanced users can also use the "ipconfig" command to determine the DNS server in the command prompt.
- Open the Control Panel and select the "Network and Sharing Center" under the "Network and Internet" category.
- Now click on the blue link on the right with the name of the network you are currently connected to.
- Click the "Details" button to open a small window with lots of information.
- You will now find your primary DNS server in the "IPv4 DNS server" line.
