Privacy settings for Skype
In a messenger program like Skype, you should definitely adjust the privacy settings. This is especially recommended if you have a lot of contacts that you don't know personally. We'll show you how it's done.
Adjust privacy settings in Skype
- Open Skype and log in to your account.
- Click on "Skype" in the menu bar at the top and select "Privacy".
- Here you can determine who can start calling and covering letters or a video transmission. You should always select the "only from my contacts" option here.
- You can also specify whether and how long the chat history should be saved. With the button "delete protocol" this is immediately removed for all contacts.
- There are three checkboxes below. These determine whether your status may be published online, whether cookies are permitted in the Skype browser and whether your data may be used to personalize advertising for you. Here you should remove all three hooks.
- Then click on the "Save" button to apply the settings.
Skype: Edit privacy in the browser
When registering, Skype requests a lot of your personal data. The fine print says that most of this personal information is public. Unfortunately, these cannot be marked as private, only an alienation helps.
- Open this Skype website and log into your account. You can edit your profile here.
- You will see the two areas "Personal Information" and "Contact Details". Above both you will find the "Edit" button.
- Now you can remove your personal data such as surname, place of residence, and telephone numbers or, if this should not be possible, alienate you.
- Finally click on the green "Save" button.
