Project Cars: The 5 best tips and tricks
Project Cars has all sorts of tuning settings and other tips that you should consider. With the following tricks you will be able to set new best times and clear them in online mode.
Project Cars - Tip 1: Vehicle setup and settings
Driving aids and HUD make it easier to get started in project cars, especially at the beginning. With increasing gaming experience, you can always approach the pure simulation by adjusting this setting again.
- You will find the "HUD adjustment" in the [Esc] menu. There you can move or deactivate each element, such as the mini map or the position indicator. You should have activated the minimap for more successful races. With manual shifting, the speedometer with the tachometer is also very important.
- The steering and braking assistant are practical for beginners in the racing game genre. They support you at all times.
- You should have activated the "Anti-lock braking system", "Stability program" and "Traction control" driving aids, otherwise the vehicle has little grip and breaks out much more easily.
- For test laps or particularly long races, such as the 24-hour race, you should have deactivated the real damage. Otherwise, small collisions can be fatal.
- You can set certain tuning setups before each race or in general for a vehicle-track combination.
- The most important point in vehicle setups is the tires. An incorrect setting can lead to the car becoming uncontrollable. In dry weather, you should choose the tire type "Slicks", while in wet weather, "Intermediates" make more sense. Rain tires make sense in very heavy rain or storm.
- On very winding routes, you should lower the differential locking effect.
Project Cars - Tip 2: drive optimally
- Pay attention to the ideal line. ideally you should not leave them. The braking points are often not displayed correctly on the ideal line, sometimes it is sufficient if you brake significantly later.
- If your car slips out of control, it could be due to the tire temperature. This should always be in the green area. If the temperature display is red, something is wrong and you should put it in the box. Otherwise the tires can burst and cause the race to end prematurely.
- The mechanic often gives you tips by radio. His weather forecasts are particularly important. So you can put the rain tires in the pit lane in good time before the rain.
- The patient often wins: if you drive off the tires directly in the first lap, you are first in the beginning, but you probably lack the grip in the decisive moments.
- Race against ghosts from other players or developers. Here you can see optimal driving styles for the respective routes without the cars interfering with each other.
Project Cars - Tip 3: the online mode
The career is initially limited to one of the 16 racing classes. In the meantime, you can freely choose the class, vehicle and race track in online mode and in individual races.
- If you play online, you should first go in private laps with friends who are on a similar level. Here you can test the different vehicles and routes without being perfectly coordinated. Public sessions are very frustrating right at the start because you can usually find players here who have tuned their tuning setup very well.
- If you later play on public servers, you can perfect your driving style by closely watching other players.
- If you want to be successful in online mode, you should memorize individual routes to find the right braking points. This is more than practicing all routes in general.
- Before you start your career, you should have practiced a few rounds with the kart. This drives completely differently than the cars and requires significantly faster reaction and more frequent switching.
Project Cars - Tip 4: Steering wheel for more fun
The Project Cars PC version supports 32 different steering wheels. There is an optimized presetting for each, so that you only have to calibrate the steering, accelerator and brake briefly. Force Feedback in particular ensures a more intense gaming experience if you stray from the track, for example.
- With a steering wheel, you should use the helmet camera or the cockpit perspective. The vehicle can usually be kept under control quite easily.
- If you play with the keyboard or a controller, you should avoid manual switching and choose the outside perspective. So you have a better overview and can react faster.
Project Cars - Tip 5: the pit lane
In long races in particular, you need a pit lane strategy so that you can return to the race track as quickly as possible.
- Under "Boxing strategy" you can adjust in the options or before a race which maintenance will be carried out when you drive into the box.
- If you drive short distances, you should not refuel too much petrol, as this has a negative effect on the weight and thus the handling and performance of the car.
- It always makes sense to repair all damage immediately. The repairs are of course only carried out if there is really damage and only then cost time.
