Manual proxy setup - how it works
If you set up a proxy manually, you benefit from anonymous surfing on the Internet. We'll tell you exactly how to do it.
Creating a proxy manually in Firefox - you have to do that
- Find a server on "Hidemyass.com".
- Then open Firefox Settings and click "Advanced"> "Network" at the top.
- Under "Define how Firefox connects to the Internet" select the "Settings" button. A new window now opens.
- Click here on "Manual proxy configuration:" and enter in the input fields the IP and the associated port that you selected for "Hidemyass".
- With a click on "OK" the settings are applied and you can surf anonymously from now on.
Setting up a proxy in Chrome - how it works
Of course, you can also set up a proxy in the Chrome browser:
- The following also applies here: Look for a proxy server, for example on "Hidemyass.com".
- Open the settings of Google Chrome and display the "Advanced settings".
- Under "Network" click the "Change proxy settings ..." button and select "LAN settings" in the new window.
- Check "Use proxy server for LAN (these settings do not apply to VPN or dial-up connections)" and then enter the proxy server data.
- Please note: The proxy is used for all Internet connections on your PC!
In further articles we show which alternatives to Hidemyass are available and whether proxy use is legal at all.
