Process cannot be ended - you can do that
If a process cannot be ended under Windows, there are tricks that allow you to end it anyway. The causes are often incorrect programming or incompatible drivers. We show you how you can simply end processes in such a case.
Process cannot be ended: remedial action via the command line
If a process cannot even be ended in the Task Manager, it is sometimes essential to use the command line. This discourages many users. We show you how you can easily end a process with just two commands. Note: The "" characters must be omitted with every entry.
- Press the Windows key + R, enter "CMD" in the following field and confirm. The command line now opens.
- Enter "tasklist". Find the process to end and note the PID.
- Now enter "taskkill / pid PID NUMBER", where PID NUMBER is the PID you remembered.
Process cannot be ended: restart
- It can happen that a process cannot be ended with tricks. In this case, often only a restart of the entire system helps.
- If a certain process repeatedly causes errors and cannot be ended, it is advisable to save its work before opening the process. Then you can safely restart.
