Processor is not recognized - what to do?
If your computer's processor is not recognized, this can quickly have serious consequences. In this article we show you what you can do about it.
Processor is not recognized - you can do that
If the CPU or processor is not recognized, you should act quickly to avoid greater damage:
- The BIOS version may be incorrect or out of date. This prevents the PC and the BIOS from recognizing the processor and causes the computer not to start up. You must therefore update the BIOS in order to be able to use the PC again.
- Find the right software on your manufacturer's website. In another article, we have created instructions for you to perform a BIOS update.
- Most updates can be uploaded using a USB stick. To do this, you need to create a bootable USB stick. You can see how this works in the video. You can find detailed instructions for the update via USB in the last paragraph of this practical tip.
- Restart your PC and boot from the USB stick. Here you must now enter or search for the file name of the update program. If you have forgotten the name and the console is open, you can display the content with the "dir" command.
- Then follow the program's instructions. Therefore, read them carefully and only restart if this is explicitly requested. Wrong procedures can lead to an unusable mainboard.
- If you are afraid to make these settings, you should ask a specialist for help.
