PS 4: Set up the Playstation 4 headset - how it works
You should set up the new PS4 headset before using it for the first time. You will find four different options in the new Playstation 4 console, especially with regard to sound output. You can find initial help in our guide.
Playstation 4 - Set the audio output of the headset
For the first time, Sony is supplying its own headsets to a console. This is to promote communication in online games. You can also configure the output of the sound.
- Start your PS4 and navigate to "Settings".
- Then select the item "Sound and screen" and then the option "Audio output settings".
- Activate the menu item "Output via headphones" and choose whether the complete audio output should be shifted to your headset (all audio) or only the voices of the respective communication partners should be heard (chat audio, see picture). The Chat Audio mode is recommended, since only the voices can be heard through the headset and the general sound of the game is output via your television or sound system.
- You can also call up these settings in the game with your "Dualshock 4" controller. To do this, press and hold the Playstation button on your controller and then select "Customize devices".
Deactivate the microphone and adjust the volume of the headset
The microphone of the connected headset can be switched off with an analog controller. This is located on the headset cable and is marked in blue. Slide the slider up to deactivate the microphone or down to activate it.
- The volume of the headset can be adjusted at any time in the game. Long press the Playstation button and then select the "Customize Devices" option.
- Now regulate the volume of the voices of your communication partners under "Volume control (headphones)". Simply press the X button or the left stick on your controller.
This practical tip will tell you whether you can play PS3 games on your PS4.
