PS 4: How to use PlayStation Vita for remote play
The PlayStation 4 has a remote play function in conjunction with the PlayStation Vita. We'll show you how to use your Vita to play PlayStation 4 games away from the TV.
Prepare PlayStation 4 for remote play with Vita
With Remote Play you can stream the image of the PlayStation 4 to the PlayStation Vita. This means that you are not dependent on the TV and can theoretically access your PlayStation 4 from a different network, provided the internet connection is strong and stable enough.
- Make sure that your PlayStation Vita has at least firmware version 3.00 or higher.
- First start your PlayStation 4 system and call up the settings and the menu item "PS Vita connection settings". Activate the "Activate Remote Play" option here.
- Also activate the "Connect directly to PS Vita" option in order to connect the two systems directly and to achieve the best possible connection result. If there are problems with the connection, deactivate the option again.
Set up remote play on PS4
- Now take your PlayStation Vita and start the "PS4 shortcut" application. Select the "Remote Play" option here.
- When connecting for the first time, you will now see an eight-digit code on PlayStation 4, which you must enter and confirm on your PlayStation Vita.
- The PlayStation Vita now connects to the PlayStation 4. Once the connection has been established, the picture of the PlayStation 4 is now displayed on your PlayStation 4.
Not every game supports the "Remote Play" function. It's best to check the description on the back of your game or the description text in the PlayStation Store. Since the PlayStation Vita has fewer buttons than the DualShock 4, the back touchpad is used as a replacement. Did you know that you can also use the DualShock 4 on a PC? We will show you how to connect the PlayStation 4 controller to the PC.
