PS 4: How does the Share Play function work?
With firmware update 2.0, Sony introduces Share Play for the PS4. We explain how the function works on PlayStation 4.
Share Play: Share games with friends
With Share Play, Sony is expanding the functionality of the Share button, with which it was previously only possible to take screenshots and videos and to broadcast live streams.
- From firmware version 2.0, it is possible to play games with friends using the share button, even though they do not have the game at all.
- Sony describes Share Play as a virtual couch. Games that only have a local multiplayer mode can also be played online with friends thanks to Share Play.
- Share Play streams the screen and makes it available to a friend.
- With Share Play, it should not only be possible to play together. It should also be possible to hand over control of the game to a friend.
- This should be helpful if you are stuck in a certain position and are looking for help from friends.
- Share Play should only be reserved for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Share-play sessions are also limited to 60 minutes. However, any number of sessions can be started.
