Update PS Vita - how it works
If you want to update the firmware of the PS Vita, you can install available updates yourself at any time. This works either via WLAN or via a PC.
Instructions: Update PS Vita via WLAN
- If you use the paid service PlayStation Plus, new updates for your console are automatically downloaded and installed.
- All other users have to start the update manually. To do this, open the "Settings" on the PS Vita and select the "Update via Wi-Fi" option under "System update".
- The latest version of the firmware is then downloaded and installed. This process can take some time. Connect your console to the mains for security.
PS Vita: Update via PC
If you cannot establish a WLAN connection to the PS Vita, the update can be installed via the PC.
- To do this, download the Content Manager Assistant and install the software.
- Connect the PS Vita to the computer via USB cable and open the "Settings" on the console.
- Under "System Update", select the option "Update via PC".
- The latest firmware is then downloaded via the PC and transferred to the PS Vita.
