If you would like to play the old classics from PS1 and PS2 on PlayStation 4, it may soon be possible. We'll let you in on the latest rumors surrounding the PS4.
Update: Play PS1 and PS2 games on PlayStation 4
- In the meantime, Sony has ported several old PS2 titles to the PlayStation 4. However, you cannot play most PS2 games. In addition, even if you own the original PS2, you will need to purchase the PS4 version again from the PlayStation Store.
- All available games are available in full HD resolution, support remote play and contain trophies. A number of titles are currently available, with more to follow over time.
- The PS2 classics GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, GTA 3, Max Payne, Primal, Manhunt and some Star Wars titles are currently available on PlayStation 4.
PlayStation 4: Emulate PS1 and PS2 games
- In November 2015, Microsoft launched Xbox One's backward compatibility. Now Sony might want to follow suit in 2016.
- Sony has already commented on the current rumors: "We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation. We have nothing further to comment at this point in time." (Source: Wired November 2015)
