PS3: firmware downgrade - how it works
If a firmware update causes problems on your PS3, you can downgrade it. In this practical tip, we will show you how to do this.
This is how a firmware downgrade works on the PS3
- To perform a downgrade, you need a USB stick with at least 200 MB of free space.
- Download these files and unzip the archive on the PC.
- Create a folder on the USB stick with the title "PS3" and then open it.
- There you have to create a folder with the name "UPDATE".
- Copy the "PS3UPDAT.PUP" file from the archive into the "UPDATE" folder on the USB stick.
- Then connect the USB stick to the PS3 and select the "System update"> "Update via data medium" category in the console's home menu.
- Confirm the next message with "OK" and wait until the process has been successfully completed.
