Record PS3 gameplay - so it'll work
In this practical tip, we will show you how to record your gameplay on the PS3.
Record PS3 gameplay with Elgato
A very popular way of recording gameplay is with an external recording card. It records everything you see on your television and stores it on a computer. We picked out the Elgato Game Capture HD for this practical tip.
- Connect the Elgato to your PS3 using the Playstation 3 cable supplied. Connect the HDMI cable of your TV to the HDMI socket of the Elgato. Finally, connect the USB cable to your PC or Mac and the Elgato. The connection between Playstation and PC is already established.
Save PS3 Let's Play
To save your PS3 gameplay, you need a PC or Mac and the free "Game Capture HD" software from Elgato.
- Start your PS3, your TV and the "Game Capture HD" program.
- Your Elgato should now appear under "Devices". Click on the small tool icon to open the settings.
- Select "Playstation 3" as the input device. You can then determine the quality of your videos. The higher the quality, the larger the video recordings.
- With the Elgato software you can edit your game captures directly and upload them to internet platforms such as YouTube or Facebook. To do this, press the "EDIT" tab.
To edit your gameplays, use one of these cutting programs. With "Game Capture HD" from Avermedia you can also record PS3 game videos. You can read how to do this in our CHIP article.
