This practical tip shows you how to set up a media server on your PS3. So you can use your Playstation to stream pictures, videos and music via the game console.
Set up media server on your PS3
The first requirement is that your media server (e.g. your PC) and your PS3 are in the same network.
- Open Windows Media Player on your PC (preferably in the latest version). There go to "Streaming" in the top menu bar.
- Select "Enable streaming home networks".
- The "Media streaming options" now open. Click "Allow All" here. Then click on "Allow all computers and media devices" and confirm again with "OK".
- Now go to your PS3 menu. Check whether the connection to the media server is activated under "Settings" -> "Network settings".
- Now go to the "Music" area on your PS3, for example. Click on "Find media server" if your PC is not yet displayed in the area. Otherwise click on the PC name displayed there.
