Copy PS3 games to the hard drive - how it works
With some PS3 games, you can copy the files to your hard drive to reduce loading times and protect your PS3 drive. However, this option does not enable every game.
Copy certain PS3 games to hard drive
If you have a game with high performance requirements - for example GTA 5 - you can install the game in parts on your console:
- Put the PS3 game in the console and launch it. Depending on the game you are playing, this process can vary slightly.
- You will find the "Install" option in the options or settings right in the game's start menu.
- Press the "x" key and confirm the copying process again with "x". The game is then automatically copied to the hard drive. This process can take several minutes.
Copy PS3 games to the hard drive and start without BluRay
As already mentioned, many PS3 games do not offer the above option. Officially, these games cannot be dragged onto the hard drive. With other methods such as rebuilding the console, using modchips and backup managers, copying the games could still work for you. However, you will lose all warranty claims and risk losing data or damage to the PlayStation.
Note: The PS3 Blueray must still be in the drive, otherwise the game cannot be started. Another practical tip tells you how to install Amazon Instant Video on PS3.
