PS3 no longer plays Blu-ray - that may be the reason
If your PS3 no longer plays Blu-ray, there can be several reasons. We'll show you what it could be and how to fix it.
PS3 doesn't play Blu-ray - you can do that
- Check that your system is up to date. To do this, navigate to the "System Settings" in the "Settings" menu.
- Check the region code of your Blu-ray. If this does not meet European standards, your PS3 cannot play the Blue-ray. However, an appropriate error message should appear in this case.
- Make sure your HDMI cable is working properly. To do this, connect another HDMI-capable device to your TV for the test.
- Restart your PS3 in the so-called recovery mode. Reset your console to factory settings to read out and fix existing errors. But don't forget to backup your data beforehand.
- Examine the Blu-ray for possible scratches or nicks. If the disc is damaged, you can treat it with our practical tip.
- If the tips do not help, take your console to a specialist. The laser in your drive is probably defective or dirty. If you feel safe, you can unscrew and clean the console yourself. However, please note that this will invalidate the guarantee.
