PS3: Play video livestream
With the PS3 you can not only play games and audio files, it is also possible to play videos via livestream. We show you how it works.
- Download the Java-based freeware "PS3 Media Server" and install it with the setup wizard.
- You have various configuration options in the general settings. In addition to the language, you can also choose whether the media server should be opened minimized in the task bar or in a window.
- Now you have to share the corresponding folders, for live streams of videos also the browser. To do this, go to the "Navigation / Sharing Settings" tab. Click on the green plus button and add the desired folders to the list.
- Under the "Transcoding Settings" tab, you can set the maximum size of the buffer. The buffer is used to play or resume a video file faster. If you have a multicore processor, you should also specify the cores so that the program and transcoding can work effectively. In addition, you have the option to choose between stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Save your settings.
- Now you should see the icon of the media server in the cross media bar. It shows you all the folders you have shared.
