PS4 controller: replace the battery - so it'll work
If the battery of your PS4 controller has become weak over time or if it no longer works, you can replace it yourself. We'll show you how it's done.
Replace the battery of the PS4 controller: You need that
- You can get a battery on Amazon for around 10 euros. The following iProtect battery mostly has good reviews and is quite cheap.
- You also need a small Phillips screwdriver. It should be available in every household. Alternatively, you can get it at almost any store for a small price.
Instructions: replace the battery of the PS4 controller
- Turn the PS4 controller over and first remove the four screws on the back.
- Now you can open the controller: It consists of two halves that are connected with a cable. Always be careful, do not use force and do not pull the two halves far apart.
- Try to pull the two halves apart at as many edge points as possible. A flat plastic object is best for this. For example, use a pick or an EC card.
- Over time you will hear a loud crack again and again. This is perfectly normal, but be careful. Once you have opened the controller, lay the two halves side by side, but do not remove the cable.
- You can then simply pull out the battery. Insert the new battery and close the controller again.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to extend the battery life of the PS4 controller.
