PS4: rebuild database - how it works
If you experience errors on your PS4 or the console does not display all files, you should have the database rebuilt. In this article, we explain how this works and what exactly is done.
PS4: rebuild the hard disk database
Rebuild the database, the PS4 scans your hard drive and sets up a new database with all files. This can be helpful if the console does not display all of the games or photos on the hard drive.
- First switch off your PS4 completely.
- Then press and hold the power button until you hear two short beeps. It takes about seven seconds.
- Now connect the PS4 controller to your console via USB cable and press the PS button.
- Navigate to the point "Rebuild database" and confirm with [X].
- Your console will now scan your hard drive and create a new database. Depending on the number of files, this can take some time.
