Open PS4: you should pay attention to this
To equip your PS4 with a new and larger hard drive, you have to open the console beforehand. In this practical tip, we will show you everything you need to consider.
Here's what you need to know when opening your PS4:
- If you open your PS4 by yourself and privately at home, you will lose all warranty claims against Sony.
- This applies even if you only want to replace the hard drive.
- The standard warranty period from Sony is one year. If you have made a warranty extension with the retailer, you should consult with the retailer beforehand whether the independent change of the PS4 hard drive cancels the warranty extension.
- Your statutory warranty rights in the event of defects remain unaffected. The prerequisite for this, however, is that you do not damage the console when you open it and that you do not make any mistakes when assembling it.
- To open, you must first remove six small stickers on the back to expose the screws underneath. As soon as you have removed the two stickers in the middle with the guarantee seal, your guarantee will expire.
- You need a special TORX screwdriver to screw on the housing.
- Be careful not to lose any of the screws.
- If you want to open the housing completely, you have to carefully pry open the lower plastic housing with a lever pin. You have to be particularly careful here so that you do not damage the housing and nothing breaks off.
- If you want to disconnect cables inside, you should always be careful and patient. Use tweezers to help you if you can’t easily reach a cable connection with your fingers.
