PS4: no sound - what to do?
If your PlayStation 4 does not play any sound, there can be a number of reasons. We'll show you how to get sound out of your PS4 again.
PS4 makes no sound - you can do that
If the PS4 is no longer sounding, several problems can be responsible. Below we present possible solutions:
- Are all cables connected correctly and intact? Also check whether the respective connections are still intact and have no defects.
- Also check if the TV volume is turned off or turned down.
- If you have multiple HDMI connections on your TV, try another one.
- You should also replace the HDMI cable once for the test. There may be a defect that you cannot see.
- Your TV's settings may have options that are responsible for the sound output from the PS4. You will find further information in the manual.
- Check if there is an update for the console. Usually these are automatically downloaded and installed - however, look in the settings under "System software update" for an update.
- If you are using a smart TV, you should check whether there is an update here. Detailed instructions on how to update can be found in the manual.
No sound on the PS4: Check audio settings
In addition to the above tips, also check the audio settings for errors:
- Open the "Sound and Screen" option from the PS4 menu.
- Then switch to the "Audio output settings".
- Here you have to "select the primary output port".
- Make sure that the "HDMI" option is selected here.
- Here you can also make further settings for the sound.
