If you don't clean the fan of your PS4 regularly, the device can get alarmingly loud. We'll explain how to keep PlayStation 4 clean.
Clean the PS4 fan by hand
Unlike the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 4 unfortunately has no internal function to help you with the dedusting. So you have to do it yourself:
- Before you get started, remove the power cord. This reduces the risk of potential damage.
- To loosen stronger dust particles, blow compressed air through all openings into the device.
- Now it's time for the vacuum cleaner. Preferably use a device that does not suck too much or whose suction you can adjust.
- At the beginning, keep your distance from the fan and slowly approach it with the suction cup.
- In this way, you feel your way to the right distance for your suction strength and do not risk any damage due to excessive suction.
- Once the PlayStation is vacuumed out, you can remove stubborn delicacies with a cotton swab and brush.
- Finally, plug in all cables and you're ready to go.
How to clean the PS4 fan less often
Of course, better than any cleaning is if the device does not get dusty:
- Be careful not to narrow the console. If it is too close to walls, this can restrict air circulation.
- This causes dust to settle more easily and the console overheats faster. It doesn't matter whether your PS4 is upright or lying down.
- In general, you should try to keep the area around your PlayStation 4 as dust-free as possible. This reduces the chance that it will be sucked in by the console.
