PS4: NAT type failed - what to do?
The NAT type on the PS4 will inform you about your current internet connection. If this has failed, your internet connection may be responsible for this. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you should do in this case.
NAT type failed on PS4
Use the tips below to make the NAT type work properly on the PlayStation 4:
- If you are using a WLAN connection, connect the console to the Internet using a LAN cable. There may be problems with the WLAN, which is why a faulty NAT type is displayed.
- If the LAN cable is still incorrectly displayed, this indicates incorrect settings in the router.
- Some routers are equipped with a firewall, which should ensure security. Turn this off for testing so that you can further isolate the error.
- Alternatively, it can help if you activate the correct ports in the PS4.
- In some cases, it helps if you disconnect the router from the power supply for about 10 seconds and then reconnect it. This means that many minor connection problems can already be solved.
- If this also fails, you can try resetting the router to the factory settings. After that you have to set it up again.
- If you get stuck, we recommend contacting Sony support.
