PS4: do offline update via USB - how it works
If your PS4 is not permanently connected to the Internet, you can also get the latest updates on your PlayStation 4 via offline update. In this practical tip we will show you how.
Step 1: Transfer offline update for PS4 to USB stick
- First download the latest firmware update for the PS4.
- Now take a USB stick and remove all the files on it. Alternatively, you can format the USB stick.
- Create a new folder with the name "PS4" on the empty USB stick. Inside you create a folder with the name "UPDATE".
- Finally, copy the previously downloaded firmware of the PS4 to the USB stick.
Step 2: import offline update on PS4
- Turn off your PlayStation 4 completely. If there is another lamp on the power button, hold it down until the lamp goes out.
- Connect the USB stick to the PlayStation 4 and hold the power button for 7 seconds.
- Then, in the safe mode of the PS4, select the "Update System Software" option.
- Follow the further instructions, the offline update will be installed.
