PS4: port release - how it works
For trouble-free online gaming on the PS4, you have to go through a port release in your router. Read the exact procedure in this practical tip.
1. Find out the IP of the Playstation
Before you can enable the port on the router, you need the IP of the Playstation:
- To do this, start the Playstation and press the [PS] button.
- Switch to "Settings" and then to "Network".
- Open the "Connection status" here and note the IP address shown here.
2. You must activate these ports:
- 465 (TCP)
- 983 (TCP)
- 1935 (TCP)
- 3478-3480 (TCP)
- 5223 (TCP)
- 10070-10080 (TCP)
- 3478 (UDP)
- 3479 (UDP)
- 3658 (UDP)
- 10070 (UDP)
3. Open network ports
Proceed as follows to enable the above ports in your network:
- Open the administration interface of your router. Usually this can be reached under "192.168.178.1" / "192.168.0.1" or "speedport.ip" or "fritz.box". This can vary depending on the manufacturer.
- Look for the "Port Sharing" option. Make sure that you only activate the above ports and the correct protocols (TCP or UDP).
- Save your changes and check if you have an internet connection to the Playstation 4.
On the "Network Status" page you will also find the NAT type used. You can read what this is and what it says in another practical tip.
