Cleaner wanted: cleaning service test winner from Stiftung Warentest
Stiftung Warentest examined cleaning service portals in the October 2018 issue. We will introduce you to the test winner and tell you who it is not worth booking a cleaner for.
Cleaning service test winner is inexpensive and thorough
Stiftung Warentest checked a total of eight cleaning service portals, including five with its own cleaning staff or contracted companies and three portals where staff or companies were placed. It was not only checked how well they cleaned, but also how user-friendly information was provided and how easy it was to book. In addition, there was also whether proper billing was provided and to what extent customers could protect themselves against damage and undeclared work. Any defects in the terms and conditions were also taken into account.
- The cleaning service portal "Book a Tiger" (grade: 2.3) emerged as the clear test winner, in which the cleaning staff are subject to social security contributions. The experts rated the cleaning as positive, but also the information on the provider's website. The price here is around 20 to 23 euros an hour, which is relatively inexpensive.
- In second place is the "Zeitreicher" portal (grade: 2.7), which works with subcontractors who send employed household helpers to customers. No direct booking is possible via the website and the testers sometimes had to wait a long time for proper invoices. The price is 33 to 37 euros an hour, which is relatively high in comparison.
According to Stiftung Warentest, the cheapest cleaning service portal is inadequate
With the cheapest offer of the test, you pay 11 to 21 euros per hour and a one-time amount of at least 35 euros per month.
- However, the portal "betreut.de" (rating: 5.5) takes last place and is therefore not recommended. Above all, the experts criticized the poor support provided by the provider, who acts as an intermediary. As a customer, you pay for the search and are not protected against undeclared work or damage to the household. However, the cleaning performance was very good.

Twice inadequate for cleaning service agents - despite the best cleaning performance
Although two cleaning service agents achieve the best cleaning performance of the test, they are in last place at Stiftung Warentest.
- For the portals "betreut.de" and "Haushelden", the grade was poor (5.5). Although they were convincing in terms of cleaning performance, the customers are poorly secured.
- With both portals, customers pay for the search for a suitable cleaner or company. "House heroes" requires a one-time fee of at least 20 euros for 21 days. The actual cleaning work then costs between around 15 to 33 euros an hour.
