Finding Qi spots: This is how you can charge your iPhone wirelessly on the go
Being able to charge your cell phone wirelessly on the go sounds great. But where can you find a qi spot for the empty iPhone? We'll tell you in this practical tip.
Charge your smartphone on the go
- On September 22nd, Apple's new cell phones will finally be released.
- IPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus do not rely on their own technology, but support the Qi standard that is widespread in Europe.
- Samsung, Nokia or LG also use wireless charging.
- The technology was created as early as 2009, but it has so far not really been able to establish itself. Among other things, this was due to the widely spread charging stations, but that is now set to change.
Where can I find Qi spots?
Apple wants to work with various partners and better equip the public space in this regard. The most recent Apple keynote included McDonalds stores and JFK airports in New York and Los Angeles International Airport.
- In Germany, for example, you can find Qi spots in Starbucks stores. Nationwide, seven coffee shops in Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne or Düsseldorf offer charging stations.
- Starbucks works with Fluxport. This also produces receivers for smartphones that are not yet equipped with Qi technology. These receivers are mostly chips or cases and can be borrowed from the Starbucks stores.
- At Coffee Fellows you will find stations for wireless charging in selected branches in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt am Main. The chain also works with Flux Port.
- In the Mall of Berlin in the Berlin-Mitte district there are twelve tables with built-in Qi-Pad. USB ports are also available for older mobile phones.
Find more charging stations
- Many wireless charging providers work with the start-up Fluxport from the capital. It is possible to charge your cell phone in local cafes or shops.
- You can easily find them using the Android app. Download the Fuxport app here.
