Set Qwant as the default search engine
The new search engine Qwant is now available in Germany. This practical tip will tell you how to set Qwant as the default search engine.
Set Qwant as the default search engine in Firefox
Qwant, the new search engine with social media integration accepts your search queries and promises you more privacy than Google, for example.
- In the Firefox browser, set Qwant as the default search engine by pressing the small arrow on the right in the search bar.
- The list of search engines opens. If Qwant is in the list, select the search engine.
- If not so, click "Manage search engines" and then "Add more search engines".
- A new page opens (Addons Modzilla). Here you can enter "Qwant" in the search bar and then with "+ Add to Firefoy". You can then set Qwant as the default search engine.
Set Qwant as the default search engine in Internet Explorer
It is currently not possible to set Qwant as the default search engine in Internet Explorer. As an alternative, you can set up the Qwant website as the start page of your browser.
- In Internet Explorer, click the gear in the top right corner and select "Internet Options".
- Enter the link "//www.qwant.com/" in the "Home" field and click "Apply".
- Qwant will now open as the start page the next time Internet Explorer is restarted.
Google Chrome: How to set Qwant as the default search engine
You open your Google Chrome browser and open Qwant. In the top right corner click on the symbol with the three horizontal lines next to the search bar. Then open "Settings".
- Under "Search" you can find several search engines. If Qwant is in the selection, select it and Qwant is your new default search engine.
- If not, go back to the Qwant website. Right-click in the search field to open a selection. You will see "Add as search engine" and select the item. Then you can set Qwant as the default search engine.
