Insert Roman numerals in OpenOffice - how it works
Roman numbers can be easily inserted into OpenOffice. Here we show you how this works.
Write Roman numbers as letters
The easiest way is to use capital letters for the Roman numerals. So for a one you write a capital "I", for a two "II", for a five "V", for a ten "X" and so on.

Insert Roman numerals as special characters
You can also insert the Roman numerals into the document as special characters:
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the Roman numeral.
- Click on "Insert" in the menu bar and then on "Special characters".
- In the new window the language "Basis Latin". In the overview you can now insert the required characters with individual mouse clicks. In the lower part of the window you can see the number that is inserted into the document when you click "OK".

Use Roman numerals for enumerations
Roman numerals are also very popular for enumerations: I), II) ...
- Use the mouse to select a point in the list. Then click on "Format" in the menu bar and then on "Numbering and bullets ...".
- Switch to the "Numbering type" tab. Here you can choose between large and small Roman numbers. Confirm your selection with "OK".
