Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) is a function of the graphics card manufacturer that immediately sharpens the resulting images. RIS is effective against blurring caused by screen resolutions that are too low or not native.
Radeon Image Sharpening: Requirements
To use Radeon Image Sharpening, you must have the necessary hardware and software. RIS is one of the latest functions of Radeon graphics cards and is therefore only available for current systems:
- Operating system : Windows 10
- API : Microsoft DirectX 9, Microsoft DirectX 11, Microsoft DirectX 12, Vulkan
- Graphics card : AMD Radeon RX 5000 series, Radeon Radeon RX 470, RX 480, RX 570, RX 580 and RX 590, RX Vega 56, RX Vega 64, Vega Frontier Edition or Radeon VII
- Processors : Ryzen 2000 or newer
Activate Radeon Image Sharpening: Instructions
As soon as the requirements are fulfilled and Radeon Image Sharpening is available to you, you only have to activate it. The following instructions show the individual steps:
- Start by selecting the Radeon driver software on your PC. Open this with the key combination [ALT] + [R].
- Find the "Games" or "Gaming" tab and click on it. You will now see all the games installed on your computer that can be improved with Radeon Image Sharpening. Select the game you want.
- In the settings of the selected game you only have to activate "Radeon Image Sharpening". Now it is available for gaming.
- Alternatively, open the Radeon software by right-clicking on the desktop if the technology is to be used for the entire PC. Then select the "Display" tab and activate under this RIS.
In order to always be able to use Radeon Image Sharpening effectively, your GPU should work without errors. If you are not sure if there are any problems, you should check the graphics card. We will explain how to check your GPU for errors in the next practical tip.
