Uninstalling the Radeon driver is recommended if new software is to be dragged onto the system. The deinstallation is possible in two different ways, which we explain to you in this practical tip.
Uninstall the Radeon driver using the AMD Cleanup Utility
The current Radeon driver can be uninstalled quickly and effectively using the Cleanup Utility Tool provided by AMD. This only removes the graphics card and audio drivers, but not, for example, the chipset drivers. This way, new drivers can be easily reinstalled. We explain how to use the tool with the following instructions:
- Download the Cleanup Utility Tool and install it on your system. Via the chip download you get the software free of possible viruses.
- Now run the software. It is recommended to uninstall the graphics card drivers in safe mode in order to avoid possible errors caused by other software.
- After starting the deinstallation, the tool carries out this in the background. If the deinstallation is successful, the system must be started. This completes it.
Uninstall Radeon driver without any tool
If you don't want to use additional software to remove the Radeon drivers, we have another option for you. You do not need any other tools for this.
- Open your control panel in Windows. This is easily done via the Windows start field.
- In the Control Panel, locate the Programs and Features tab. Open it.
- In the next window, look for the installed "AMD Software" in the program list. This is clicked and then uninstall is selected. Confirm the process.
- The client now starts uninstalling the Radeon drivers. This takes up to 10 minutes on average. During this period, the screen may flicker or briefly go black.
- Then click Restart when the client prompts you to do so. The Radeon drivers are now uninstalled.
