Raspberry Pi: Install the operating system - how it works
There are only a few steps required to install an operating system on your Raspberry Pi. Read in this practical tip how to do this.
Raspberry Pi: How to install an operating system
- First, download Raspbian, the official operating system for the Raspberry Pi, from the official website.
- Connect the keyboard and display to the Raspberry Pi during the download, but do not yet connect it to the mains.
- After a successful download, unzip the ZIP file and drag the IMG file to a memory card that you have connected to the PC.
- As soon as the copying process is complete, insert the memory card into the slot on the Raspberry Pi. You can then connect it to the mains.
- The first thing you need to do is expand the file system. Simply press the [Enter] key. After you see the success message, confirm again with [Enter].
- In the next step, navigate to the fourth entry and then select "Change locale" to change the time zone and the language.

- In the next step, use the arrow keys to mark the entry "de_DE.UTF-8 UTF-8" and then press the [Enter] key again.
