Raspberry Pi: change system language - how it works
If you bought a Raspberry Pi, one of the first things you should do is change the system language from English to German. We'll show you how to configure your Raspberry Pi accordingly.
Change the system language of the Raspberry Pi
Note: If you have not yet set up the Raspberry Pi, you should start it up.
- Open the terminal and enter the command "sudo raspi-config".
- Use the arrow keys to navigate to "Set locale" and select the option.
- A long list of languages is now displayed. The language "de_DE.UTF-8 UTF-8" is recommended.
- Press the spacebar to select the language. Then an asterisk appears.
- Go down a bit in the list. Deactivate the English language here with the space bar.
- Finally, press the tab key and confirm the process with "OK".
- Select the German language again for confirmation so that it is changed by the Raspberry Pi.
