Reset Raspberry Pi - so it'll work
If you have problems with your Raspberry Pi, it often helps to reset the small computer. We show you how to do this in this practical tip.
Raspberry Pi: restart
Most problems in the system can be fixed with a restart. So before you set up your system again, you should try a restart.
- Open the terminal of your Raspberry Pi.
- Restart your system with the command "sudo shutdown -r 0".
Raspberry Pi: reset password
If you forget the password for your Raspberry Pi, you don't have to reset the whole system. You can change your password again in a few simple steps:
- Note: You must have physical access to your Raspberry to change the password.
- Remove the SD card with the operating system from your Raspberry and open the card on your PC with a card reader.
- Use the editor in the "boot" folder to open the "cmdline.txt" file.
- Add the entry "init = / bin / sh" at the end of the first line.
- Now insert the SD card back into the Raspberry and start it with the keyboard and screen.
- Now enter "mount -o remount, rw /" and then "passwd pi". You will be asked to enter a new password for the user "pi" twice.
- Finally you have to execute the commands "sync" and "exec / sbin / init".
- You can now switch off your Raspberry Pi and remove the line inserted in step four.
- When starting up again, you can now log in with your new password.
