That is why your smoke detector flashes red
The flashing of a smoke detector usually has two different causes:
- The flashing red on some models indicates that the batteries need to be replaced. The flashing is accompanied by an acoustic warning signal at regular intervals.
- The battery warning tone and the red flashing occur for the first time 30 days before the battery is empty. Then you should act and replace the battery as soon as possible.
- With other smoke detectors it is the other way round. The red flashing indicates that the device is ready for operation.
- With these models, action is only required when the flashing of the smoke detector goes out. Then the batteries may need to be replaced or there is another defect.
- You can always find more information on the flashing of your smoke detector in the operating instructions for the respective device.
