Reduce noise on Skype - the best tips
With Skype it is wonderful to stay in touch - if only there was no annoying noise. Our tips show you how to reduce it.
Reduce noise on Skype calls
Especially during the holiday season, Skype is a great thing to be able to make free calls to friends and relatives on the Internet - even with video. If the pleasure of speaking is marred by annoying noise, proceed as follows:
- Start Skype and log in.
- Select the "Actions" in the menu.
- In the pop-up menu, click on "Options".
- On the left side you then decide on the »audio settings«.
- Now try increasing the volume of your microphone and lowering that of your speakers using the slider.
- It is often helpful to deactivate the "automatic micro adjustment" since the microphone level is not automatically increased if you do not speak. You can also switch the automatic adjustments on / off for the loudspeaker.
- Finally, you have to confirm your new settings at the bottom right by clicking the "Save" button.
- Test your new settings by calling the "Echo / Sound Test Service" from Skype in your contact list - the noise should now be gone.
- Repeat these steps, if necessary, until there is no noise on Skype calls.
- Also try to get a little closer to the microphone when speaking and, if necessary, update the drivers of your sound card manually.
