Razer Black Widow: Record macros - how it works
With the Razer Black Widow you can record macros and assign any key. In this practical tip, we explain what macros are and how they work.
Macros on the Razer Black Widow gaming keyboard
Macros are different processes that you can trigger with the push of a button. For example, texts that you have to enter frequently can be saved as a macro or you can use the macro keys to open certain programs.
- The Razer Black Widow has 5 macro keys on the left side of the keyboard.
- You need the "Razer Synapse 2.0" program to create macros.
- If you log in with your account on another computer via "Razer Synapse 2.0", you have access to all the settings that you have already made there. The program works similarly to a cloud service.
Set macros for the Black Widow
Once you have downloaded and installed "Razer Synapse 2.0" and created an account, you can assign macros to the buttons on your Black Widow.
- Click on "Macros" in the program.
- If you press "Record", your keystrokes and mouse clicks will be saved. The program also remembers the intervals at which you press the buttons.
- When you are finished typing, click "Stop". You can then decide how long the delays between the individual entries should be.
- Now click on "Keyboard" in the upper tab and then on "Customize". You will now see a layout of the Black Widow. Click on a button you want to assign.
- A new window is opening up. Here you assign the previously recorded macro, a specific program or another key function to the key.
- Finally click on "Save".
Create a macro on the fly
If you need a macro very quickly in a game, you don't have to end the game. With the right key combination, the Black Widow can record and save a macro without "Razer Synapse 2.0".
- To start recording, press the "Fn" and "F9" keys simultaneously.
- Now you can start typing. To stop the recording press "Fn" and "F9" again.
- Your macro recording indicator on your Black Widow (red circle with an "M") will now flash.
- Finally, press the macro key to be assigned the new macro.
Other keyboards also have macro keys. You can find out which keyboards these are in our comparison of gaming keyboards.
