Receiver is buzzing - you can do that
If your TV receiver is buzzing, this can be very annoying in the long run and indicate an error. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about the hum.
Receiver hums - that helps against that
A humming receiver often indicates a defect. You can get rid of the annoying noise with our tips below:
- First, take a look at all the cables. If they have a broken cable or other defects, you should replace them soon.
- You should take a closer look at the coax cable in particular. If the shielding is inadequate, the cable emits an interference signal, which in turn causes the hum. Replace the cable if you are unsure.
- The humming is often caused by other devices that are nearby and are switched on. This is because these devices are poorly shielded. A multiple socket with mains filter can help.
- In a few cases, the hum can also be caused by the antenna line. This can be prevented with a bypass filter.
- It is also possible that other devices in the vicinity, such as the wireless telephone system or the microwave, are responsible for the interference. Therefore, try to place these devices a little further away from the receiver.
- Check whether the device becomes hot after a short period of operation or whether there are disturbances in picture and sound quality. If this is the case, there may be a serious defect in the device and you should inform yourself about a possible repair.
