Legal protection insurance where to enter in the tax return? - all information
If you have taken out legal protection insurance, you can also enter this in part in your tax return. In this practical tip we explain where the right place is and what else there is to consider.
Tax return: Where is the legal expenses insurance registered?
- If you take out legal expenses insurance for professional reasons, you may deduct the entire amount. To do this, use the area of advertising costs in Appendix N of your tax return.
- If you take legal protection insurance privately, you can also deduct the contributions. However, labor protection must be included. Only this is tax deductible.
Taking out private legal expenses insurance - that's how it's done
- If labor protection is included, you can deduct the corresponding amount of legal protection insurance from the tax return. In the past, a lump sum was chosen for one third of the contributions.
- In the meantime, the flat rate may no longer be applied. Contact your insurance company for a precise breakdown of your amounts. Depending on the insurance, between 30 and 60 percent of the contribution is lost for labor protection.
