Create recovery CD - how it works
If you create a recovery CD for the Windows computer, you are always prepared for the worst. You can also create a Recover USB stick to back up your data. We show you the exact procedure in these instructions.
Windows 8/10: Create recovery CD
In Windows 8 you can create a recovery USB stick instead of a recovery CD. Use this to troubleshoot, reinstall, or refresh Windows.
- Open the Control Panel and select the "System and Security" category.
- In the "Maintenance Center" you will find the "Recovery" option at the bottom right.
- Click on "Create recovery drive" above and confirm the security prompt.
- Activate the displayed option, click on "Next" and connect a USB stick with at least 16 GB of memory to the PC.
- When you confirm the process, the recovery drive is created on the USB stick.
Windows 7 / Vista: Create recovery CD
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "recdisc.exe" here and confirm with "OK". Now the creation of the recovery CD starts.
- Select your CD drive, insert the CD and click on the button "Create disk".
Note: If the Recovery CD is used, you must change the boot sequence in the BIOS when you start your computer.
