Create recovery partition - this is how you proceed

If you want to back up your data just in case, you should create a recovery partition under Windows. Our instructions will help you with this and show you how this works without any problems under Windows 10.
Step 1: create a new partition in Windows 10
- If Windows does not start anymore or you have to reinstall Windows for another reason, your data is always kept on the recovery partition.
- First you have to create a new partition under Windows. We show you exactly how this works under Windows 10 and all other Windows versions in this manual. Then follow the instructions in the next paragraph.
- Note: If your hard disk suffers a defect, the recovery partition did not help you much either. A backup to an external hard drive is therefore advisable.
Step 2: create recovery partition
You can now create a backup for your data on the partition created in step 1. Alternatively, you can use backup software or copy all the data individually.
- If your system is currently running without a problem, a Windows backup makes sense. Under Windows Vista, 7 and 10 you will find the function in the Control Panel under the "System and Security" category under "Backup and restore".
- Windows 8 no longer has this function. Here we advise you to use backup software. Paragon Backup & Recovery 2014 Free is a free, high-quality backup solution.
- If you only want to save your data and no settings, a manual backup is sufficient. Simply copy all the files you want to the recovery partition.
